In the heart of the mesmerizing rolling fields, lived a boy named Shepherd. His being was essentially pure, and unsophisticated. His main role was to look after his herd of rams.

Their gentle baas and the rustling of the gales among the solo tree on the hilltop were his constant companions. Day upon day, guarding his responsibilities imbued in him a sense of calm satisfaction.

But, there were occasional moments of solitude, when the shepherd boy would yearn for fellowship. On one such day because of sheer monotony, the shepherd boy orchestrated a naughty scheme.

Narratives of predators hunting on sheep had long been circulating in the town. So, the boy opted to used this fear and played a prank on the inhabitants.

One day he ran into the village screaming “Wolf! A wolf is that has taken my sheep!” The scared villagers rushed up the hills to help read more but discovered no beast.

The boy chuckled at the puzzle on their faces. This game continued for a couple of more days. But, one day, a real wolf did come to prey the flock. The shepherd boy dashed for help, shouting “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one showed up.

Frustrated and alone, the boy struggled against the wolf but managed to protect only few of his sheep. Heartbroken, he returned to the village only to receive a reprimand on honesty and the consequences of dishonesty.

The tale of this shepherd boy has been transmitted generations as a mediaeval parable for teaching the importance of honesty, the consequences of lying and the dangers of crying wolf. Moreover, it highlights how trust once broken, is tough to earn back. It's a story as relevant today as it was then.
